Alone at Dawn Film Update
Oscar Nominee Actor and Marine Corps infantry veteran Adam Driver will play AFSOC Master Sergeant John Chapman in Ron Howard’s upcoming feature ALONE AT DAWN, an adaptation of the book of the same name by Dan Schilling and Lori Chapman Longfritz.
Years after Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman fought to the death and was abandoned doing so, an intelligence officer strives to prove his valor, leading an investigation that ultimately would secure him the Medal of Honor. Schilling is a military consultant on the movie and, like Chapman, also was a Combat Control Technician. Lori Longfritz is Chapman’s sister.

2025-26 CoWorking Application Open
Veterans Florida is now taking applications from interested and eligible veterans, servicemembers, and spouses for CoWorking Scholarships. CoWorking locations provide essential resources for small business owners, and Florida offers many locations across the state.
The $2,000 CoWorking Scholarship covers all or part of a membership term at a Florida CoWorking location of the selected applicant’s choice. Up to ten participants will be selected.
Prospective participants will need to complete and submit the webform application at the link below. We may ask for verification documentation at some point afterwards during the review process. Full details included on the application webform.

GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN
During a government shutdown, members of the United States military, including active duty, National Guard, and reserve members, are not paid but must continue to report for duty to carry out their assigned responsibilities. Members of the Coast Guard are also not paid during the shutdown.

SAVE THE DATE – FLHSMV VETERANS DAY EVENT NOVEMBER 7TH
November 11 is Veterans Day. FLHSMV will be honoring Veterans Day on November 7 at noon. I am excited to announce Major General Michael Snodgrass will be our keynote speaker. He retired from the USAF in 2011 and is currently President SG Strategic Solutions LLC. He has extensive command and leadership experience in the USAF as well as a wide range of disciplines including Defense and Aerospace. From 2007 to 2010 he served as Chief of Staff, US Africa Command. He has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels and served at every staff echelon in operations, requirements, acquisitions, and international affairs. He has over 3500 flight hours in various planes including the F-16, F-15, F-4, C-130, and HH-60 as well as over 100 combat missions in Operation Desert Storm. More information to come as we draw closer.
FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY
On November 22 from 1- 3 there will be a flag retirement at the Tallahassee Automobile Museum on Mahan Drive. Everyone is welcome. If you have a flag that needs retirement, please feel free to bring it to the ceremony.
