Yesterday’s Legal Clinic at American Legion Sauls Bridges Post 13 hosted 16 Veterans and family walking in, (plus 4 other calls) ; several Veterans volunteered with set up, intakes, etc. even though their court-ordered community service requirements have already been completed ( Shane, Charles, Khalid, Gregory, JohnB, Chris B). In all, our Legal Clinic Volunteer Team totaled 17, including 6 pro bono attorneys in person and another two by phone/email.
The next Leon County Veterans Treatment Court session is Monday, October 20, 3 pm in the downtown Courthouse, Courtroom 2E. Please consider coming to observe/ maybe becoming a Veteran Mentor for the Vets working their way through the program and recovery. Several Veterans are finalizing plans to graduate November 17. Thanks to the Marine Corps League for donating to TVLC’s ongoing work!!
TVLC also added a comprehensive legal research tool recently for our VA-accredited attorneys in order to more thoroughly assist in questions about VA benefits. We’re still waiting for two more attys to be accredited, but VA is taking its time, especially in the shutdown now!
OCTOBER 18 (Saturday) Fund-Raising “JEEPS vs. HARLEYS Poker Run”: All types of bikes and cars are welcome to participate (flyer attached)
Plans are finalized for the Jeeps vs. Harleys Poker Run here to benefit the Tallahassee Civic Chorale, who are sharing the proceeds with TVLC. Save the date: Registration 9-10 am at TALLAHASSEE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT, Saturday, October 18. Let us know if you can join in, helping us host the several stops for the Riders that day! This will help TVLC continue to help with Driver’s License Reinstatements, as well as gas money for the weekly food distribution. Volunteer Veterans pick up the food in Quincy and deliver to Vet Village, Homefront, and other Hud Vash low-income locations where Veterans live!
