Weekly Report 🎖
Name Outpost 1 | Project Athena | World of Warships | Trunk of Treat
The coalition has spoken and unanimously voted to name Outpost 1 after Major John Haynes. Before I approach the family, I want to ask one final question. How do you want his name displayed?
Also, the November meeting will be ran by American Legion Sauls-Bridges Post 13 Commander Dennis Hall. I have spoken to a few VSO’s about leading the December meeting but have not received a definitive YES. It would be nice to see at least one of these organizations lead a meeting. 👇
Women Veterans Unite
Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 758
Disabled American Veterans Chapter #5
Fleet Reserve Association Branch #34
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 96
Blinded Veterans Association
The first organization to respond will get the December slot.
That being said, we need VSO’s to secure their slots for 2026. If you are Veteran organization, please send us an email and let us know which month you would like to lead in 2026. Choose a month, January through December.
If you served in Afghanistan, please take the time to check out Project Athena. It is a Canadian effort to log the memories of those who served in country. Record those memories boys and girls because time waits for no one.
Our next quarterly meeting will be coming up on Wednesday, Oct 29, 2025 from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM at the Golden Corral on North Monroe Street (across from Lake Ella). As a reminder, we’ll be holding elections for President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. Please let me know if you’re interested in any of those positions - or if you know someone who might be. Wayne Hooks will be our guest speaker, and will give a presentation on Wreaths Across America - for which AFA has been a past supporter and will continue to do so. Finally - we’ll have a brief award ceremony.
Again - I’d like to thank everyone who turned out last month at the dedication of our POW/MIA Monument at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks and enjoy.

To celebrate America, the American Legion invites you to cover 250 miles (or hours) of any fitness activities you choose—walking, hiking, running, cycling, swimming, using the elliptical, playing pickleball, rowing, etc. Participants may also join a group effort to achieve the 250 goal. This could include 10 teammates walking an average of 25 miles each or 80 participants walking or running a 5K (3.1 miles), for example.

In honor of the 250th Anniversary of the US Navy, World of Warships has an excellent promotion going right now for Veterans. If you are looking for a decent military game, World of Warships is a great title.
