Good day, Team We all celebrated the JUNETEENTH holiday yesterday, but
some of us held the legal clinic as well.
Kudos to Khalid Shafi, David Gerourd, Diallo Gaymon and Terrance Lee for
the food distribution yesterday (Wednesday) to several housing facilities,
including Homefront, Grace Mission, Kenwood, etc. And last Friday to Nolan
Wilson, Susie, Omar and Cindy for representing the Veterans Legal community
at the DMV's Veteran Recognition event (along with several partner agencies
who also tabled there) see photos.. .

14 Veterans came today for the Legal Clinic at American Legion Post 13, Lk
Ella (Thursday). Our volunteer team totaled 12, including 4 attorneys.
Valerie & Margaret volunteered the admin support today, with Susie
handling the computer and records desk. We answered various legal questions
(civil, criminal, Driver's licenses, Veteran benefits, etc.), and made
referrals for housing, as well as several specialists in supportive law
firms around town.
Please make note that our website address has changed in recent weeks, and
change it if you have it posted anywhere. www.Tallahasseeveteranslegal.com
Leon County Veterans Treatment Court: Please plan to come
downtown to Courtroom 2E on Monday June 23, 3pm in the Leon Courthouse; you
may decide to become a volunteer Veteran Mentor for one or more of the Vets
in the program. You won't regret the teamwork.
Florida's budget was finally adopted this week and forwarded to
the governor, pending his line-item vetoes. The federal budget remains in
the Senate, with VA cuts uncertain, and the hiring freeze and partial cuts
still in place. If you want to hear/see the VA's 2d in command, Dr Paul R
Lawrence (VA Deputy Secretary), you have the chance this next week: he'll
be speaking at a Commanders Coalition-sponsored Roundtable at the American
Legion on Lake Ella, Tuesday evening June 24 at 7 pm, and again Wednesday
morning at the Moose Lodge at 1478 Capital Cir NW at 10 am. The American
Legion Post 13 is hoping for a full house participation! For more
information, go to www.commanderscoalition.org
We now have a better link (UTUBE) to forward to you for the WCTV
interview with four of us from TVLC that broadcast last month
What else?
Thank you,
Dan Hendrickson, for the Tallahassee Veterans Legal Collaborative
