I apologize for sending this so late. I have been running on generator power since the storm and just got the lights turned back on. Comms have been limited because of the Comcast outage.
Stand Down 2024 has been postponed following the Tallahassee tornados. New dates will be announced soon.
This is Mary Katherine with Big Bend Hospice Volunteer Department. I manage Leon County Volunteers. This email is in regards to our Vet to Vet and Valor programs.
BBH is a level 5 member of We Honor Veterans, a national palliative association dedicated to fulfilling the unique needs of Veterans on palliative and hospice services. We’ve been dedicated to honoring Veterans since our inception.
However, we need more assistance from our local Veteran population. Many Veterans on our service want another Veteran as their volunteer. Vet to Vet volunteers is primarily a companionship volunteer role.
Veteran patients tend to want someone who understands the circumstances of serving our country. Many of our veteran volunteers are older and taking on less responsibilities, as they should and have more than earned. This is why I’m reaching out and asking for assistance.
