Weekly Report 🎖
Invitation to tour the USS Florida | AMVETS | 501c19 | Community Partners | POW MIA Ceremony
I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve begun the process to apply for 501(c)(19) recognition, a key milestone in establishing Commanders Coalition as a tax-exempt veterans’ organization. The IRS requires a $600 filing fee to complete the necessary paperwork. Unfortunately, we currently lack the funds to cover this cost, and we need your support to help us cross this hurdle. On a more positive note, we’ve successfully secured our Employer Identification Number (EIN), a crucial step forward.
With your support—whether through donations or sharing our mission—we’re confident we can achieve 501(c)(19) status and begin serving VSO’s more effectively.
Are you a small business or nonprofit organization?
To help us achieve our 501(c)(19) status and expand our mission, we’re inviting small businesses and nonprofits to become Community Partners. By partnering with us, your brand will reach thousands of veterans and community members in our network. You’ll also receive a high-resolution digital medal for your website, with a bronze oak leaf cluster awarded for each year of sponsorship. After five years, the cluster upgrades to silver, and after ten years, it becomes gold.

On Thursday, 18 September 2025, the Bud West Chapter of the Air & Space Forces Association dedicated their POW MIA Monument at the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Many Veteran organizations were in attendance.

From Commander Dennis Hall
The US Navy has given me the opportunity to bring 30 guests to board and tour the USS Florida as it’s preparing departure for a combat mission in the Middle East. The trip will originate in Tallahassee at 1:00 on Wednesday, October 15, and travel by chartered motor coach to Fernandina Beach where we will have dinner with the captain and several of the boat’s senior officers.
We will overnight at the Residence Inn by Marriott. Early the next morning, we’ll reboard the coach and travel to the Kings Bay Navy Base in Saint Mary, Georgia. After going through security, we’ll be broken down into groups of about five and be given a top to bottom tour of the submarine. Next, we’ll have lunch on the base and then be provided a tour of the Trident Training Center where there are mockups of the various parts of the submarine. We should be back in Tallahassee by around 7:00 pm Thursday evening.
As a veteran, you are invited to take this trip and may bring another person – spouse, neighbor, best friend, associate, or other. I’m working hard to get group discounts where I can so the entire trip – motor coach transportation, hotel room and three meals, will come in something under $500 a person. You must be able to walk a half mile from the bus to the pier and climb very steep stairwells and ladders. If you are physically challenged, this trip is not for you. If you’d like to give me a call, I can fill you in on many more details.
Look forward to hearing from you. Dave Ramsey 850-509-9091
Apologies are in order
Last week, I sent out the weekly report listing some 501(c)(19) organizations I found online. Unfortunately, AMVETS, the fourth-largest veterans’ organization, was not on the list. I sincerely apologize for this oversight and have since updated the list to include AMVETS. If you know of other 501(c)(19) organizations I may have missed, please let me know, and I’ll update the webpage promptly. AMVETS has made remarkable contributions at both local and national levels. Here are some highlights of their impactful work you may not know about:

Since making this mistake, I applied for membership. You can’t forget about an organization you’re a member of. 🇺🇸

US Space Force Announces Service Dress Implementation Plan

It’s been a few years since I last saw a Guardian in uniform, which got me thinking: how many people have never seen a member of the US Space Force? This begs the question, who has the best Service Dress Uniform?
Do any of our VSO’s have any Guardians on their roster? If so, I want to run an article about them.
