Veterans Treatment Court Mentor Role Description
The role of the volunteer Veteran mentor is to act as a coach, guide, role model and support for the court-involved Veteran (Veteran mentee) s/he is working with.
The Veteran mentor encourages, guides, and supports the Veteran mentee as s/he progresses through the court process and transitions back in to society.
This includes listening to the concerns of the Veteran mentee, assisting to determine and prioritize needs, referring issues to the appropriate Veterans Treatment Court, VA, and/or community-based staff members, and acting as a support person for the assigned Veteran mentee.
Mentor Requirements
· Be a Veteran of one of the branches of the United States Military, including the Army, Marine Corp, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, or their corresponding Reserve or Guard branches
· Adhere to all of the Veterans Treatment Court policies and procedures
· Commit to program participation for a minimum of one year
· Complete the screening and orientation process to include the application, interview, and orientation
· Participate in additional trainings throughout time of service as requested
· Attend court sessions as scheduled by the VTC Team or work with the Lead Mentor to find an alternate mentor representative

Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the assigned Veteran mentee to resolve their concerns regarding Veterans Treatment Court proceedings as well as interactions with VA or other community-based service providers.
Attend court sessions as scheduled (and/or work out alternative arrangements through the Lead Mentor).
Be supportive and helpful to other mentors within the program.
Work collaboratively with the Veterans Treatment Court Coordinator on program development and improvement initiatives. Each volunteer Veteran mentor is encouraged to actively communicate questions, concerns, or improvement ideas for ongoing improvement of the program.

Veterans who are looking for work are invited to join CareerSource Capital Region for lunch and door prizes while also preparing to re-enter the workforce. Network with other Veterans, connect with expert career advisors, prepare your resume and brush-up on your interviewing skills!
This lunch and networking event will be in-person at the Leon career center and is limited to the first 30 Veterans who register.
Registered attendees should bring a copy of their resume to the Prep for Vets event.
