Weekly Report 🎖️
Afghanistan War Memorial | Blanket Drive | Army Navy Game Watch Party | Career Fair
During the last Coalition meeting, I announced that I am putting together an Afghanistan War Memorial Commission for the City of Tallahassee.
During the Holidays for Heroes event, another Veteran told me I should include the Iraq War Veterans in the memorial. I will leave that question up to the Coalition.
I need Commanders to ask their members because once this ball starts rolling, we are not changing course.

The President signed H.R. 7777, the Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2024, into law on November 25, 2024. The law authorizes a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for veterans receiving VA disability compensation and clothing allowance and for survivors receiving dependency indemnity compensation (DIC) payments.
The adjustment, based on the yearly change in the cost of living as determined by the Social Security Administration (SSA), will take effect on Dec. 1, 2024, and will be reflected in veterans’ and survivors’ Jan. 1, 2025, compensation payments.
The COLA adjustment is intended to help cover rising costs of living, such as groceries, housing and health care. For more information, click here.

promote safe storage, ie. preventing accidental deaths/homicide. She suggested
approaching them as well to see if they would be interested in partnering to
distribute information and gun locks as well for Suicide Prevention.
3. Continuing to improve transitions by supporting Veterans that have recently transitioned from Active Duty.
a. Discussed how Mike Hazell has spoken with The Honor Center on Eglin AFB and they are open to having our coalition do a presentation for the Active Duty Military in the program. Chelsi Brown offered to do presentations as she already visits with the
The Honor Center on a regular basis as part of her job role. Will need to identify what the coalition wants to be presented.

The coalition discussed the importance of working together with community partners to address the needs of the transitioning serve members.
