Yesterday’s Legal Clinic at American Legion Sauls Bridges Post 13 hosted 16 Veterans and family walking in, (plus 3 other calls) ; several Veterans volunteered with set up, intakes, etc. even though their court-ordered community service requirements have already been completed ( Shane, Charles, Khalid, Gregory). In all, our Legal Clinic Volunteer Team totaled 18, including 6 pro bono attorneys in person and another two by phone/email. Khalid, Charles, Leonard Bell drove to Quincy and delivered food to several locations around Tallahassee again Wednesday, including Vet Village (see photos)
CHANGE OF DATE FOR VETERANS COURT GRADUATION: NOV 24, 3 PM. The next Leon County Veterans Treatment Court session is Monday, October 20, 3 pm in the downtown Courthouse, Courtroom 2E. Please consider coming to observe/ maybe becoming a Veteran Mentor for the Vets working their way through the program and recovery. Several Veterans are finalizing plans to graduate November 24. Thanks to Post 3308, VFW for donating to TVLC’s ongoing work last week!!
TVLC also added a comprehensive legal research tool recently for our VA-accredited attorneys in order to more thoroughly assist in questions about VA benefits. We’re still waiting for two more attys to be accredited, but VA is taking its time, especially in the shutdown now!

CHANGE IN LUNCH LOCATION FOR TOMORROW’S Jeeps vs. Harleys POKER RUN: AMERICAN LEGION HALL AT LAKE ELLA Noon to 2 for BBQ and final Poker Chip tally and awards and drawings for dozens of gift baskets. To participate in the Ride thru Tallahassee’s Canopy Roads, meet for Registration at the Tallahassee Chrysler Jeep dealership 3987 West Tennessee St between 9 and 10 tomorrow morning.
Plans are finalized for the Jeeps vs. Harleys Poker Run here to benefit the Tallahassee Civic Chorale, who are sharing the proceeds with TVLC. Save the date: Registration 9-10 am at TALLAHASSEE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT, Saturday, October 18. Let us know if you can join in, helping us host the several stops for the Riders that day! This will help TVLC continue to help with Driver’s License Reinstatements, as well as gas money for the weekly food distribution. Volunteer Veterans pick up the food in Quincy and deliver to Vet Village, Homefront, and other Hud Vash low-income locations where Veterans live! REGISTER EARLY AT www.CivicChorale.org $20 per vehicle ($10 passenger) Enjoy an informal tour of most of Tallahassee’s beautiful Canopy Roads, with 5 stops and lunch.
