Please mark your calendar for the following dates:

Friday, June 14, DHSMV Veterans Recognition Day, 12:00 noon, at the Neil Kirkman building, 2900 Apalachee Parkway
Why June 14? Not only is June 14th the day that the Continental Congress voted to adopt a new Flag for the newly formed United States in 1777, it was also the day that enlistment in the Continental Army was authorized two years earlier, making it the birthday of the U.S. Army.

Monday, September 16, member dinner with speaker, 5:00-8:00 p.m., at the Elks Lodge
Friday, December 6, Holiday dinner, 5:00-8:00 p.m., at the Elks Lodge
We will kick off our 2024 membership drive in March. I'm excited to report that our membership continues to increase. We hope to keep the momentum going this year, and will be hosting an 'officers call' in March focusing on MOAA eligible non-members.
Be on the lookout ... our new MOAA Tallahassee webpage will be unveiled this Spring. Secretary David Hadzima has been working this initiative and has done a great job. It looks great!
Graduations for ROTC and JROTC will be here before we know it. Did you know we support 17 programs in total (4 ROTC and 13 JROTC)? Please consider making a donation to the Scholarship Foundation for the ROTC candidates. Graduating JROTC cadets are presented with a MOAA certificate and medal.
Come out and support the Hero Rock program, founded by our very own David Wilson. In these short ceremonies honoring local heroes who died in combat, David provides background of each veteran and how they died (yes, he has researched each and every one). At each veteran headstone, we say their name, do a prayer, ring the bell, and then lay two Hero Rocks. A spouse of one of the Veterans we honor in this way paints a personalized rock for every veteran. The second rock is painted with a patriotic theme by a local youth group, see attached. In both cases, each rock is separate and unique from all others, it's really very special. Please join us.
