Guidance for members of a VSO

Florida State Capitol Veteran March

As some of you may have heard, there is a rumor circulating about a Veterans march at the Florida State Capitol on March 14, 2025.

While veterans have the right to protest, wearing an organizational cover or clothing displaying a Veteran Service Organization (VSO) logo could potentially jeopardize your organization’s nonprofit status with the IRS.

I do not speak on behalf of any specific VSO. However, as a member of multiple VSOs, I want to remind everyone that participating in a political protest while representing a 501(c)(19) organization is not permitted.

DO:

✔ Wear hats or clothing representing your branch of service or military service

DON’T:

✘ Wear VSO covers or any clothing displaying a VSO logo.
